I have Corey from Toyota Fiberglass building me a new bed for it now - should be here sometime around April or May. I was smooth with no ticks or knocks. All I know is that it drains my wallet and pisses off my wife so it's got to be a good thing, right??? I could not seem to detach these wires and am guessing the removal of the battery terminals would be in lieu of this procedure. You might want to look there. Find an inventory of used 1983 Toyota Pickup car and truck parts from 100+ top auto dismantlers, modern junkyards and used parts dealers. I pull the fuel pump fuse while the engine is running to empty the gas lines. This rig is street legal and registered with all required lights, gauges, wipers and even a working emergency brake. I planned on using this for my 82 back in Indiana, so I know what you mean about wrong side of the country. Put the new one in, tighten the banjo nuts with a torque wrench to 22lbs, and start reassembling everything.

Truck will need to be trailered home. I had to use the teflon tape on the gas line fittings, as there was a slight drip when reinstalled. I'm not quite sure where the stepside bed came from, but the hideous thing surely isn't going back on it. Email me if you need instructions on how to take it off and such.
