Any idea what might be causing the complete deadness of the whole truck? Sounds like yours is failing. Or even a 3 way connect…. I have 3 keys and none are chipped. When I put the key in the truck and try to start it, cant even get the dashlights or anything to turn on, everything is completely dead. I just bought my 99 express 1500 5. I started it again and it died!! Recently I accidentally put the vehicle in neutral after security light came on and it started. Went inside the store and bought another battery, still nothing. Also, I saw a tutorial where it seems the guy was saying to place resistor in yellow wire. The hard part is isolating which part is the problem.
Its called passlock, and is more of an antitheft system than a security system. When I turn the key back to the off position the dash lights and head lights stayed on. I have not tried this resistor method but I do know a little about resistors. Cut the yellow wire in half make sure you have enough room on both ends to work with. I can hear my relay kickin in too so i dont think this is the problem.

I am only telling you this because if you have a truck like mine i am trying to save you time. See your dealer for service. Passlock enables fuel if the ignition lock cylinder is turned with a valid key. .
Also has anyone had this issue resolved dealer or otherwise?? Doors wont lock, cab lights wont come on, nothing. I tried it again and turned the key at the same time. Been messing with this damn thing for 2 days now to no avail. It's been working for me for about two and half years. I then did the reprogram procedure described at the beginning, off, start, run for 10 min repeat and after the 3rd time I tried to start it and nothing happened then I put it in neutral and it started I then put it in park and tried again and it started! Wait a few minutes and the security light starts flashing then same thing again.
If no voltage at pin 16, check power aux fuse 7--25 amp, interior fuse box. Is there a thread you know of that explains the pausing? I got no ohm reading from yellow wire. Hello, are you saying the starter won't even crank? Says here only to cut and wire black and yellow but you have 2 black ends. It just did it the second time yesterday. Theft light was on but went out at 2nd start. Now it wont start at all!! You can spend a thousand dollars through a mechanic very easily. I can, t seem to locate any indication of short with a multimeter or test light. So you have to refer to the factory legends to learn the identification symbols and then refer back to circuit diagrams to find the splice and ground locations.
If it is not blinking, crank it up. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type. So if the light is coming on after the engine is running, and the engine also quits, I would look for an electrical problem with the key switch or the computer. The troubleshoot and reset procedures are different for each. If i cross the solenoid it starts right up and i am on my way. You need to solder them in one length like a rope. I turned the key to on, and all the dashlights and heater and stuff came on, but when I turned it to start, nothing. Do you know why the pause everytime? Just sloder them like a rope in a straight line. Father in law tracked down a new column and jacked it into my car but now the vehicle will only crank and power down immediately theft system is active of course, in a terribly ironic turn of events.
