Gauges were not working and nearly all the Instrument lights were on. Must rely on odometer still works to gauge fuel use. Disconnect the battery for 1fifteen minutes, while disconnected short the positive and negative battery leads together not the battery! I feel this is a safety issue and there should be a recall. I do not have enough money to fix this and believe it should be recalled. It will stick at random places on the dial, even when not driving, will not register the correct speed, and sometimes roll all the way over, pointing at the odometer.

She contacted the manufacturer and was advised there were no recalls on the vehicle and that they were unable to assist. My daughter owns a 2004 Monte Carlo with the same problem and her daughter has the problem with her 2005 Cavalier. Also, fuel gauge needle goes haywire when I fill up. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. My rpm gauge rarely works correctly. I think they should recall cars and fix the problem at once.
General motors needs to issue a recall. You can use a putty knife or a stiff ruler to push from underneath the dash; do not use sharp objects as this may pierce the fabric. Sometimes it will start on 35 mph and I can easily calculate my speed for about a half hour until it gets stuck. After replacement, headlights work fine but now none of the gauges work and all the indicator lights are out.
